From 17 to 23 of March YEE’s “Youth Exploring Participation” Training Course was held. The TC took place in Czech Republic, Kapraluv Mlyn, Ochoz u Brna. It is a long-term project and has 2 training courses (phases). The training course brought together 32 young people – youth workers and active volunteers from 14 countries and various environmental youth organizations (mainly YEE member organizations). The participants dived deep into the topic of youth participation, empowerment and public participation as a tool to promote citizens’ engagement in environmental governance and policy-making process, the importance of involving young people into decision making process and how NGOs can influence and promote youth participation. During the TC through different seminars and discussions participants explore what participation means, which levels of participation they are. They had online and “face to face” meetings with two active young workers from Czech Republic and France. Interesting and immersive methods were used by the organizers to make the sessions and discussions more interesting and comprehensive. The program was flooded with interesting discussions about personal experience and achievements of each participant in their lives and in their organizations. There were also few outdoor activities in cold and fresh area of the scout shelter (Kapraluv Mlyn) when participants were trying to find personal contact points with nature and environment. In the end of the project during summary meeting participants determined their next steps and tasks in their organizations after first stage of this training course. Accordingly they will have anything to show and represent in the second training course as a result of their work.
